Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery | Dr. Philip Young of Bellevue | Seattle discusses Review websites like Yelp, Real Self, Rate MDs, Insider Pages, etc. We just wanted to add a post on some of these review sites that we have been hearing about. Some of my colleagues have discussed this issue before and we are just bringing it up because our patients had questions about them. Reviews can be a good way to get to know someone. But as you know there are a lot of entities out there and you can never be sure who you are listening too. I generally tell people to be weary of review sites. These sites have at least one function and that is to carry out a business. Some of my colleagues have told me that some of the reviews sites are like “internet mafia” and are set up to harass doctors and get them to pay them money. This is something that I have heard but I don’t know exactly what they are all about. When I read these reviews I see that there is a lot of false information on them. But doctors are not able to make comments due to privacy acts etc. So many times doctors hands are tied behind there backs. I have done some research on them and have found that there are a lot of legal cases that are brought up by doctors who are fighting these review sites and winning. I have also heard that sometimes these reviews are written by competing doctors to give other doctors bad reputations so that they can get busier. We will do our best to stay out of this area of medicine and concentrate on doing the right thing.

Our Mission is to deliver unwavering quality care to improve people’s lives through Facial Plastic Surgery and the YoungVitalizer.

Rhinoplasty Reviews Seattle | Bellevue Dr. Philip Young Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery

Rhinoplasty Reviews Seattle | Bellevue Dr. Philip Young Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery:

Rhinoplasty Reviews Dr. Philip Young

Rhinoplasty Reviews Dr. Philip Young

Rhinoplasty is the art and science of the shaping of the nose through surgical and non surgical means. We can shape your nose to more closely match what you are desiring or have been thinking of. What we usually do during your connsultation is take a few photos that we can morph to better get an understanding of what you are looking for. We use a computer morphing program called United Imaging. We actually do this 2-3 times at least before your procedure to really get an understanding of what you want. In general, you will have at least 2 appointments before your procedure. 2 weeks before we bring you in for an pre procedure appointment to review your health again and prepare for you for your procedure in more detail.

How is a rhinoplasty done? We usually do our rhinoplasties in an open fashion. This entails making a very small incision at the bottom of your nose in the area between the nostrils. This usually heals imperceptibly like this:

Rhinoplasty Open Approach Incision Dr. Philip Young

Rhinoplasty Open Approach Incision Dr. Philip Young

Why the Open Approach to Rhinoplasty? This is the newer way of doing Rhinoplasty. It is the feeling of many (to most) surgeons that the open approach is better for improved visualization of the structures and the ease of changing the structures and getting what you want through Rhinoplasty. Doing a Rhinoplasty closed hinders the view and makes it harder to make the changes necessary to get you the best results.

How do you change the nose through Rhinoplasty? If you take a look at the picture below you can better understand what we are about to say. To make the tip smaller, we usually trim and shape the lower lateral cartilages. Many people are born with lower lateral cartilages that are bigger than others. Sometimes these cartilages are shaped in a way that makes the tip look bigger. When the lower lateral cartilages and more bowed out and less straight this can contribute to the bulbous look. We just trim the cartilages make them smaller and then make them straighter too. If you have a hump, we will take down the hump by shaving the top of the septal cartilage down and also by rasping or shaving the nasal bones and bridge down to match the computer imaging. Rhinoplasty Before and Afters by Dr. Philip Young

Our office is going on its 5 year of operations in Bellevue. Dr. Young was originally in Seattle for 3 years before that. We would like to present some more of our Rhinoplasty before and After pictures   for you to see. Dr. Young’s office and team have 2 basic elements that help them get the best results: 1. We have a better understanding of aging process; 2. We have a better blueprint | plan to achieve beauty within the face – ie Dr. Young’s Award Winning Theory on Facial Beauty Called the Circles of ProminenceOur theory plays an important part in our performance of our rhinoplasties as well. With this theory we are able to tell you how wide your nose should ideally be, how wide your nasal tip should be, how wide your nostrils should be, the ideal distance between your nose and mouth,  and how long your nose should be, etc. These answers are crucial for getting the best results.  We hope that our before and afters are able to exemplify this.

Nasolabial Folds Treatment by Dr Philip Young Seattle | Bellevue : Options and New Ways of Approaching this Area

Sunday, March 10th, 2013

Nasolabial Folds Treatment by Dr. Philip Young Seattle | Bellevue, Options and New Ways of Approaching this Area:  Treating the nasolabial folds seems like a very specific issue and separate from all the rest of the face. This approach has been used in the past. We did facelift to pull the fold up. Implants to the Nasolabial Fold: we used tissue to fill in the crease with fascia, alloderm, implants of silicone, goretex etc.  We have used Mid face lift to pull the cheek upwards to help this area. Fillers have been commonly used to approach this fold with a minimally invasive thought. Facial Implants have been used to fill in the space under the fold with some success. All of these approaches seem to work to some degree, with fillers have a more temporary duration and Solid Implants having more of a longer lasting effect. Perhaps the better way of looking into the nasolabial folds is to address them from a global perspective and approach them as being a part of the general advancement of aging of the face as a whole.

The nasolabial folds as an indication of the face aging as a whole: The aging of the face can be thought of as a general loss of volume sort of like how a grape changes into a raisin. The grape is much larger than a raisin and has a lot less folding than a raisin does. Filling in the nasolabial folds is like filling in a small area of depression or crevice in a raisin. The raisin may look good but may not look completely regenerated like a grape would look. It is our opinion and the opinion of the YoungVitalizer Team that to more appropriately address the nasolabial folds, you need to address the whole face, or at least the larger area around the nasolabial folds to get the best result. We feel to better address the nasolabial folds you need to shape the whole part of the face around the folds. This means that you should rejuvenate the cheek, the mouth, the nose and the general area around the nasolabial folds.  You can read more about the YoungVitalizer by clicking the logo of the YoungVitalizer below. Also here is link that discusses nasolabial folds and how to treat them:

Plastic Surgery Philanthropy by Dr. Philip Young of Seattle | Bellevue Recalls his time in Vietnam with the organization Face to Face

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Plastic Surgery Philanthropy by Dr. Philip Young of Seattle | Bellevue Recalls his time in Vietnam with the organization Face to Face: This was one of the best trips of my life. It was one of the best moments of my life. The Doctors in Vietnam treated me and the other doctors like I’ve never experienced. They were so kind, gracious and appreciative of our contribution. They really made me feel good about myself. Once I got of the plane, I was greeted by the Vietnamese doctors that escorted us to our hotel. We started early the next morning discussing the cases that they organized for us to teach them as much as we could. We did procedures from cleft lip and palate and scar treatment surgeries to browlifts, facelifts, and reconstructive rhinoplasties. We were with some very famous surgeons including Frank Kamer, Bill Truswell, Mack Hodges, and William Silver. My friend and colleague Davis Nguyen was also there and we had a great time. Face to Face is one of my passions that I will try to continue to do over the course of my lifetime. You can see more of our philanthropy activities on this page: Plastic Surgery Philanthropy / Facial Plastic Surgery Humanitarian Work.
